In my 71st year and now curating the 100 best reads of my life. Need to finish 5 more books to end the year at my goal of 71 reads. Running out of time. Finding new authors is great but I tend to consume all their Art. Also have to go backwards and re-read past favorites.
Robert Alter’s translation of The Book of Moses, Prophets, and Writings, read as literature. Thomas Mann-Joseph and his Brothers, George Eliot- Middlemarch, Whitman-Leaves of Grass, Ficciones- Jorge Luis Borges, Name of the Rose-Umberto Eco, Everything Anais Nin, and then there is Kathy Acker and Dodie Bellamy…….and so it goes. Happy New year.
